No Matter The Storm (by Tanja)

In one of my favorite movies, The Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond says to Albert: “Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine!” I have often wondered to myself during some of our most difficult trials whether the Universe has some bizarre plan with our lives or whether it is all just chance. Well, I decided to give it some further contemplation and came up with a few ideas which I would like to share with you.   Perspectives on a Universal Plan Here are some religious, spiritual, philosophical and scientific views. Religious Perspectives: Christianity: Many Christians believe in God's plan for each person, as mentioned in the Bible (e.g. Jeremiah 29:11). Islam: The concept of "Qadr" (divine decree) suggests that Allah has a plan for everyon...

Don't Lie Down (by Tanja)

We would just like to share our progress with our new exciting venture. We are so proud of what we have accomplished so far. We still have quite a journey ahead of us, but we are so enthusiastic and eager to get our amazing products in the market and into every household in South Africa. And who knows, maybe even further! As we've mentioned many times in our previous posts, we lost everything during the Covid-19 plandemic. Add to that the loss of limbs and our children immigrating to Europe. Our devastation was overwhelming and we felt such a keen loss of everything we held dear. What was our reason for going on? Why did we not give up as so many others, with fewer losses, have done?  One of my mottos in life is: If you lie down, you might never get up again. So, don't lie down! Through the pain, the loss, the struggle to survive, we finally found something that we could be passionate about again. Our new baby, our passport to a better future. I hope you have enjoyed sharing ou...

Love and Passion (by Tanja)

A lot of people have a tendency to mistake romance for love itself. They mistake romance for love and respect. They mistake romance for a healthy, thriving relationship. When actually, some of the things that maximize romance are completely unhealthy and toxic. People tend to overestimate their romantic relationships and underestimate their friendships. Here’s my views on this topic: Love Depth and Stability: Love is often seen as a deep, enduring affection that grows over time. It is stable and reliable, providing a sense of security and comfort. Commitment: Love involves a commitment to someone, sticking by them through thick and thin. It is about building a life together and supporting each other’s growth. Understanding and Acceptance : Love means understanding and accepting someone’s flaws and strengths. It’s about seeing the whole person and loving them despite their imperfections. Care and Compassion : Love is nurturing. It’s about being there for someone, caring ...

Back From the Dead (by Danie)

Yes, it’s me. I’m back (for now anyway). Once again, my amazing wife saved me from the clutches of death, and for now I’m back in the ring, ready for another fight. I do, however, know that I’ll be knocked out eventually, and then that will be the end of me. The only thing in life that is constant is change. The only thing in life that is certain is death. Death is the only certain thing, and despite this being the absolute truth (with only the timing varying from person to person) we never seem to be prepared for it. Religion has long been thought to be a solution to the problem of death. Notions of an afterlife are nearly universal, though there is great diversity in the details. Given this close association between religion and death, researchers have long supposed that religion somehow manages to lessen the fear of death. There is, however, one fear that is on par with death and it’s called old age . Some people fear aging so much that it becomes as pathological c...

If Only We Knew (by Tanja)

Countless movies have been made about time travel, going into the future or the past, and I find them captivating. Yes, if only we could gaze into the future somehow, or even go back and change a few things.  There are many ways that people have tried to see what the future holds for them in order to make the best decisions, but sadly, I don’t believe it to be possible. Crystal gazing was a popular pastime in the Victorian era, and was claimed to work best when the Sun is at its northernmost declination. Immediately before the appearance of a vision, the ball was said to mist up from within. The use of crystal balls for divination also has a long history with the Romani people. Fortune tellers, known as Drabardi, traditionally use crystal balls as well as cards to seek knowledge about future events. According to me, it’s a total sham. If the future hasn’t happened yet, how can it exist anywhere? I still find it a fascinating concept though. Looking into a crystal ball ...
